Stolen Sky Productions

An independent film production company.

Stolen Sky Productions develops and produces narrative feature films. Co-founded by producer Johnathan Dorfman and musician, Dave Matthews, the company has spent more than two decades building a slate designed for both critical impact and real audience reach—films with ambition, craft, and a clear point of view.

Across the catalogue, Stolen Sky's work has premiered at Cannes and Sundance and includes releases through partners such as Fox Searchlight, IFC Films, Lionsgate, and Samuel Goldwyn Films, alongside a significant body of releases through ATO Pictures—an independent distributor affiliated with the company's principals.

The films have premiered at Cannes, Sundance, and TIFF, and have earned recognition from institutions including the Golden Globes and the Emmy Awards.

Stolen Sky is currently in active development on a slate of narrative features—led by The Things We Can Not Touch, Inkosi, and Anjo—character-driven stories with scale and urgency, and a particular attention to underrepresented histories and voices.

How We Work

Stolen Sky functions as a selective development studio. We develop projects over the long term with writers and directors whose vision is clear, whose material has earned its place, and whose work we believe will find a meaningful audience. We are not a volume operation. We prioritise depth of engagement over breadth of output.

We work with partners – co-producers, sales agents, financiers, and distributors – who share that orientation. We are interested in stories that travel: across cultures, across markets and across geography.
