Synopsis

The Monk is set in 17th-century Spain and follows Ambrosio, a celebrated preacher of unassailable virtue whose faith begins to crack when a mysterious young woman enters his monastery. As temptation and obsession take hold, his descent into sin accelerates — ultimately dragging him toward damnation. Adapted from Matthew Gregory Lewis’s Gothic novel.
